I am a Third Culture Kid (TCK), an American citizen, born in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso (although it was called Upper Volta at the time, in West Africa). After attending high school in Rabat, Morocco I attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, where I received a B.A. in Philosophy. I also hold a Masters of Arts in Elementary Education from New York University.
I began my teaching career in the New York City Public School System in Brooklyn, New York. After 5 years I moved to Buenos Aires, Argentina with my wife, Christine, who is an art teacher. I have experienced teaching grades one through four. I am currently in my third year as the Third Grade PYP Teacher at Surabaya Intercultural School in Surabaya, Indonesia.
I have 17 years teaching experience 12 of them overseas. During this time I have become skilled at growing and facilitating a classroom community where students feel safe and in which individual learning styles, hopes, and dreams can be realized. Seventeen years and numerous Institutes later have made me an expert at the implementation and use of workshop teaching creating an environment well suited for individualized instruction. I also believe that the greatest strides can only be made with consistent, honest, home-school collaboration and communication.
